Upon reading the Sunday newspaper, I found a little flyer called The Waste Paper. It pertains to the Western Lake Superior Sanitary District, and includes tips and information on our sanitary system around our area. I found an article named Electronics Recycling and it urges everyone to recycle any unwanted electronics such as video players, TVs, monitors, computers and other small electronics like phones, mp3 players and digital cameras. Electronics contain materials that are hazardous to humans and the environment, and there is actually a law that requires that they be recycled. You can recycle them at the WLSSD Materials Recovery Center. Start cleaning out your closets you pack-rats, and start recycling!

I think it is great that we have this resource so close. The only thing I hate is that it costs money to do those types of recycling. To me, thats almost like being punished for doing good deeds. I mean I get that it obviously takes work to dispose of it properly, but still. You'd think there would be a way without there being a fee.
ReplyDeleteI actually knew that you could drop off those types of things at WLSSD. For one of my classes last year we had to tour the place, I cant say it was my favorite way to spend an hour but I think that it would really apply to this class.

ReplyDeleteI see signs for this all over, I guess I haven't had to recycle an electric item for a while. I don't think it's free, Mary, it's like 10 bucks an item but I'm not sure.
