About Me

My photo
I am a Junior at the University of Minnesota Duluth. I love love LOVE the crisp smell that Fall brings, but also need the vitamin D that summer brings. I thoroughly enjoy photography and watching movies. To anyone that likes the outdoors, I'm sure we will get along quite well-- I dig fresh air :) I have a cat named Kozmo, who is quite crazy, and If it were more convenient at this time in my life, i'd have a dog as well. As you might conclude, I am an animal junky.

Read 'n' Seed 1: Harvest for Hope

1. Harvest for Hope
2Animals to us -- A celebration of cultures -- How we lost commonsense farming -- Seeds of discontent -- Animal factories : farms of misery -- Farming animals : hazards to our health -- Helping farm animals live better lives -- Ravaging the oceans and seas -- Becoming a vegetarian -- Global supermarkets -- Taking back our food -- Protecting our family farmers -- Eat local, eat seasonal -- An organic wave worldwide -- At home and at school : feeding our children -- Obesity, fast food, and waste -- The looming water crisis -- The story of Nebraska -- Harvest for hope.
3. I chose this book because it covers many topics that I don't necessarily know very much about, which in turn intrigues me to read into them. It seems to mention a lot about organically eating, and growing... which I support. I am also against our increasingly obese nation, and our lack of motivation to conserve resources.

Share & Voice: My trip up the Northshore

I took a trip along the Northshore towards Gooseberry Falls in Duluth on a beautiful 65 degree day after class with a few friends.  I came along TONS of monarchs, one of which I managed to have land in my hand that my friend got to snap a few photos of.

There was the most brilliant reflection of the sun off of the still water that Lake superior simply sparkled--> hard to stare at without sunglasses!
I recently acquired a new macro/fisheye lens for my Canon Rebel Xsi. I was able to get up close to the plants and get a clear, crisp picture of the wildlife.

We also walked alongside the lake and found flat and round rocks that were PERFECT for skipping rocks.

Nature is such an important part of my life,
and getting out and taking pictures is just something that makes me feel complete.

Share & Voice: TRUTH "Second Hand Smoke"

I chose TRUTH "Second Hand Smoke" for my video. It is a song about how secondhand smoke can impact the health of others living in one's household. Although it is displayed in a humorous manner by imitating The Brady Bunch, it is actually based on a very serious issue that just about everyone in our society has to deal with. Even if you may not LIVE with someone who smokes indoors, we are all affected by the secondhand smoke that we come across in our everyday lives. For example, going on a walk and passing someone who is smoking, or being a passenger in a smoker's vehicle. Our environment is directly influenced by smoker's habits.
